Nicholas has been involved within education for 30 years. Having been a secondary school teacher in the state and independent sector in a variety of academic and pastoral roles, Nicholas was a Principal Lecturer in two faculties at the University of Central Lancashire. Here he overlooked over 25 degree courses, both undergraduate and postgraduate, led on the partner college provision as well as managing 6 international campuses. Nicholas has managed large cohorts of staff and has led on the Teaching and Learning, Accreditation and Quality Assurance of all programmes, meeting Key Performance Indicators of increased Graduate Outcomes. As well as having a BSc (Hons), PGCE (Secondary) and Masters’ degree, Nicholas is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Having stepped away from Higher Education, Nicholas is now an Education Consultant, working with Higher Education institutions on their Teaching and Learning strategies, Organisation Management, their alignment to Government regulations, creation of partnerships both in the UK and internationally, recruitment and Quality Assurance processes. He is currently external examiner for two of the top universities’ Business Schools in the country. Nicholas also works closely with independent schools on their recruitment strategies, their transition to Higher Education and their development internationally. He also enjoys working with a number of Education Authorities with regards to their appeals processes for school admissions, after being approached by having been a Chair of Governors at one of the largest Academy’s in the Northwest.

Outside of the workplace, Nicholas has previously enjoyed coaching a variety of sports to a reasonable level but now has hung up the boots and enjoys watching his children’s progression at their respective universities. Regularly found walking his dog or sharing a good coffee with his wife, Nicholas is pleased to be asked to contribute to FSB.
