FSB Croydon had the privilege of hosting Richard Beagley, Talent Acquisition Executive at Crowe UK, for an insightful and academically grounded masterclass exploring the realities of contemporary graduate recruitment and professional development.

Richard delivered an informative talk to FSB’s business and health students. He particularly focused on the application lifecycle and the realities of today’s recruitment process. The session provided students with valuable insights into:

  • The graduate and job application process
  • The skills required in today’s workplace
  • How students can prepare effectively for interviews
  • CV writing and application tips
  • Professional development and career readiness.

“Engagement with industry leaders is fundamental to our goal of preparing students for success beyond academia,” said Mohammed Zaidi, CEO of FSB. “Sessions such as this bridge the gap between theory and practice, equipping students with the intellectual discipline required to excel in a highly competitive global environment.”

Dr Ben Abudawood, Academic Dean at FSB Croydon, said: “This topic is extremely valuable for our students. Such sessions help students better understand the modern workplace, recruitment expectations, and how to confidently navigate the application and interview process. We are very grateful to Richard and Crowe UK for sharing their expertise and supporting our students’ professional development.”

Janki Amin, FSB’s Careers and Employability Manager, said: “Richard shared valuable insights into career pathways, employability skills, and industry expectations. Students particularly valued the practical advice, real-world examples, and interactive discussions, which strengthened their confidence in career planning and CV development.”

Richard went on to highlight that whilst technical competence remains essential, employers are increasingly seeking candidates who demonstrate transferable skills, analytical thinking and the ability to communicate experience with clarity and purpose.

The session reflected FSB’s ongoing commitment to connecting academic learning with professional practice and helping students better understand how their skills translate into real-world recruitment contexts.
