Student Support

FSB recognises that many of our students may not have undertaken any formal study for some time, or will be juggling their studies with family or work commitments. The Student Support team is here to help keep you on track and to assist with any obstacles you may come across.

Whether your problem is study-related or personal, Student Support will:

  • Offer confidential and impartial advice on any matter that is affecting your learning, and where appropriate, direct you to the correct resources both internally and externally.
  • Assist with any queries in regards to your course or the School, such as timetabling, applying for extenuating circumstances, or making formal complaints against staff or peers.
  • Discuss any issues that you are having with your health or wellbeing that it affecting your studies
  • Advise on any reasonable adjustments that may be available to assist you if you have a medical condition, mental health issue, a learning difference, or are pregnant, or anything else that may require additional support
  • Support you with making contact with outside agencies such as the Student Loans Company or for having a Disabled Student Allowance assessment
  • Refer you to Academic Support if you are having difficulties with your academic studies

    Expert advice is on hand to guide you in making realistic and effective decisions in order to achieve your career goals.

    The service is confidential and impartial and provides advice on the following:
  • Advising on further study, such as a Postgraduate qualification
  • Preparing a personal statement
  • Writing a CV
  • Job search techniques
  • Preparing for interviews
